and... Zombies.

This was a fun, light read. At 201 pages, I finished it in one sitting. With all the dystopians with more serious tones (which I love) this was a nice change of pace for me. Kate is our main character in Bad Taste in Boys. She is an intelligent, quirky girl just trying to make through high school when something goes horribly wrong with the high school football team. The football players have managed to turn into zombies and now Kate has to figure out how to stop them.

There were quite a few moments when I laughed out loud. Even some of the more "gross" parts were funny. The good news is there isn't really a cliffhanger ending, which with all the series/trilogies I have started lately, is a pretty nice change.

Some parts were predictable and some parts caught me by surprise, but it was enjoyable. I look forward to the next book in the Kate Grable series.

If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?

Okay - you might want to skip over my question this week if you haven't read ALL of the Harry Potter books...

I love(d) Harry Potter. I read and followed HP since I was 9 years old, in the 4th grade. This is a series I grew up with. Needless to say, I was super mad when some of my favorite characters kept getting killed off! First, Sirius. I remember 8th grade Spring Break, I spent crying over Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when Sirius is killed. Eventually, I settled myself down, I was like hey, it will be ok, she'll bring him back somehow, and you still have Lupin after all. Or not, seeing as he was killed off too! I have this running joke with my friends that all the characters I like get killed, which happens way too much for me. It all started (I think) with The Outsiders. Dally and Johnny were my two favorites -- and where are they now you might ask?! Ahem. There you have it...

August Recap

I am shocked at how fast August went by! I am super excited for fall though. Over here where I am, the humidity and the heat is crazy. I am definitely not a hot weather person. So, with fall coming, I thought I would add a nice picture of what I am looking forward too. ;)

With that said, this has been one crazy summer! First, I would like to thank Parajunkee (Parajunkee's View) for featuring me on Follow Friday again and thanks to all my new followers!

So, my fall goals are to increase the number of books I read so I can reach my 2011 reading goal. I lost out on a few months, since I started in May. So far I have read 41 books, so I am 9 away from the halfway point.

I have to say that I have read some really awesome books I don't think you should miss! As you see, I linked up the titles so you can see the review for them easily instead of having to search. :) I read 12 books in August and I am hoping to bump that up to 20 books in September. I am hoping to squeeze in 8 books more this month than I had in August.

I have also come to love dystopian novels so much (as you can see, I have been reading a good bit of those). I'm thinking I might have a new favorite genre......

This novel turned out a lot differently than I had expected. It was a little darkness, a lot of humor, and fluff.

After half-way through the book, I was like, yeah this is going to be a 4/5. I was sucked in, it was quite funny, and just entertaining in general. Unfortunately, the last half just fell out. I was disappointed because Beauty Queens had such potential at the beginning, but then just kind of fizzled out. I wouldn't recommend this for younger readers either; sexual scenes, profanity, and even a scene where they are accidentally high off of some unknown fruit. This stuff doesn't typically bother me, but I thought I would bring it to attention as some readers are and I wanted to let it be known for the younger readers as well.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate this one, it just ended up not being as good through the end as it was to start with. It just seemed to veer off into left field. I'm on the fence on recommendations.
