This week I am getting back on the reading wagon. I have been trying to make some adjustments here at home since my sister-in-law has gone back to work I have been helping her out with babysitting and such and have had a wonky schedule to get used to, therefore turning my brain into a mush puddle.

Have you ever looked at book’s cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.
I really was not a huge fan of The Name of the Star's cover, but I ended up really loving the book.

BeefcakeandBabes Asks:I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?
I really liked the name Aoife from The Iron Thorn and another was Anais, who was the older sister of Virginia in The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things.

Friday Features: Beefacke and Babes & Le' Grande Codex

Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?
That is a bit of a hard one for me to answer. I have my favorites, which I could read again and again, but there is also nothing like cracking open a new book for the first time, which if I read the same one over and over, I would miss.
Friday Features:
Book Chowdown & Goldilox and the Three Weres

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?
I'm a total sucker for romance most of the time, but it's not what I look for necessarily. I like characters who, even when broken, can still manage to hold their head high and face the world. I also like the ones who, when everything is stacked against them, can still manage to make their way through everything without losing who they really are.

Progress and Procrastination & Omnom Books

These are just some of the bands I like:

Red Hot Chili Peppers (all time favorite band)
Breaking Benjamin
Three Days Grace
Florence and the Machine
Seether
MGMT
The Bravery
Foster the People
Apocalyptica

I pretty much listen to everything, old or new, most genres, depends on my mood really. :)

If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?

Okay - you might want to skip over my question this week if you haven't read ALL of the Harry Potter books...

I love(d) Harry Potter. I read and followed HP since I was 9 years old, in the 4th grade. This is a series I grew up with. Needless to say, I was super mad when some of my favorite characters kept getting killed off! First, Sirius. I remember 8th grade Spring Break, I spent crying over Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when Sirius is killed. Eventually, I settled myself down, I was like hey, it will be ok, she'll bring him back somehow, and you still have Lupin after all. Or not, seeing as he was killed off too! I have this running joke with my friends that all the characters I like get killed, which happens way too much for me. It all started (I think) with The Outsiders. Dally and Johnny were my two favorites -- and where are they now you might ask?! Ahem. There you have it...

This week the feature follow at Parajunkee's View is: me! :)

This week's question is: In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

I would either say a phoenix or a shifter. I have always loved phoenixes and shifters are awesome!

I honestly have no idea.... This is such a hard one! Ummm one that I like says:
Insomnia... it's nothing to lose sleep over.
I thought that one was pretty funny.

Okay, so this is my first FF and I am going to *attempt* this. :)

Follow Friday is hosted at Parajunkee's View. It is a way to discover and follow new, awesome blogs and meet the blogger behind it.

This week the featured blogger is Erika at Let's talk about books.

The question this week:

ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.

Answer:

I would have to say it would be a tie. The first is the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.

The second is (if this counts? It is based on the character so I'm counting it...) Sherlock Holmes. I love his character, he is quirky and comical but still flawed.

Here is the question from Crazy-for-Books for this week:
What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

Really, it just has to grab my attention. It has to be interesting enough and make me curious to find out what exactly is going to happen next. If I can't get interested or if it is not written in a style to my taste I won't read it.
