Lia and Cassie were best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies. But now Cassie is dead. Lia's mother is busy saving other people's lives. Her father is away on business. Her step-mother is clueless. And the voice inside Lia's head keeps telling her to remain in control, stay strong, lose more, weigh less. If she keeps on going this way—thin, thinner, thinnest—maybe she'll disappear altogether.

I had a hard time putting this one down. It was so sad, yet it drew you in. I think that this book really lets you into the minds of those who have this problem. It is sad, but so many girls (and guys too) face it.

Not only is Lia suffering from this illness, but she is also having to deal with the loss of her best friend, which she blames herself for. You get a glimpse into her life and can see how she has these struggles within herself.

I also have to add that I love the cover of this one. It is chilling, yet beautiful, which I think is quite fitting for Lia, personally.

This. Was. Amazing.

There are so many characters, so much history, and so much just going on in this world period. This is a vivid world created by Mr. Martin. In A Game of Thrones, there are so many families, each with their own flaws and histories, as well as where they are going in the present. I have done nothing but obsess over this book and the show. Shame on me, I know, I hadn't heard of this before the show. I was watching the first episode with my husband and about halfway through I said to him I thought it would make a good book. He told it was actually a series! I about jumped up in excitement and got it as soon as I could.

One complaint I have, however, is that some points in the book are kind of slow, but I can be impatient. :)

Between the families feuding, the secrets, the twists, loyalties and liars, love and hate, this was one I could almost not put down.

New Things - May and June

I am still making my way through Game of Thrones at the moment, and also have been trying to think of different ideas for this blog. I still have a few things to add. :) I have added the widget for the 2011 reading challenge from goodreads.com. The challenge is hosted at Book Chick City. Hopefully, having a late start won't hinder me too much.

I am also hoping to get a lot more reading done with this book, I haven't had quite the time I usually do since my hours at work have picked up a bit, but progress is progress I suppose. ;)

I also have finally gotten my books on my iPod Touch (yay!) and have decided to ask the hubby (finally) for some sort of eBook reader for my birthday. ;)

Throwing in the towel

Ok, I give! I am just going with this lovely premade template. Maybe eventually I will be able to figure out coding. Right now, however, I am completely baffled and so obviously coding challenged, haha!

I am currently reading A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. It is a part of a seven book series, the fifth of which is scheduled to be released this July. More later!
